Just received an email from Philip Maxwell, trying to book a holiday and wants to pay me an extra $8600, which I need to pay his “Travel Consultant” with. I have asked him to fill in an online booking form with details, so now I will just wait and see what transpires.
His new email is email@example.com

I just got an identical email for my holiday rental in Australia (29/06/12).
I emailed back to say my house was unavailable but apparently he’s very flexible with his dates & keen to stay whenever I have a vacancy.

Yes, we received a similar request today, I referred Dr Maxwell to our online booking safe site. The request just didn’t “sound right”.

We’ve had the same thing happen to us in the last few weeks – can’t see where he’s going to make money off it? He has given us a card and our rental charge came off it fine, but something felt fishy so I’ve been trying to find something online that might help explain why this is a scam! Or do you think he is he prepared to sacrifice the money that he pays us for our rental, in order to get the extra $8600 (he quoted the same for us!) for his ‘Travel Consultant? Thanks!

Same email received at Shoalhaven for accommodation from 3 – 13th Dec. Same family details. Glad I googled him – thanks for the warning.

Yes he tried to touch base with us, however the format and wording of their enquiry always gives them away. Best to either ignor them or if in doubt do a google search for fraud or scamming or else send them to your web site to book on line as per anyone else. If they are genuine they will book and this cuts out any possability of a scam request from them. Woulkd you just love to be able to send a computer destroying virus back to them via their email address???

Phillip is at it again! I have received this persons information. He was interested in a Regent Seven Seas cruise. He is now using a different e-mail address Philipmaxwell3@yahoo.com.
Didn’t fall for the scam. Sounded fishy right away and reported it. Glad there is a thread about this scammer. I hope they catch up with him soon.

Dr Maxwell contacted me again. The fool.
He has now given me 2 different credit card numbers, which I have passed on to Visa.
I have also sent him a lovely email which will be sent a few hundred times over the next day or so.
I have also contacted another dodgy company, that try to gain access to your computer remotely, these guys call you and explain you have problems with your microsoft operating system. I have passed on the Drs. details and explained that he would like to be contacted in relation to a microsoft os problem.
That should be interesting for the Dr.
I have a wine tourism company and looks like he snagged me to, sounds intruiging, good fraud! haha

I almost got scammed today 11/12/2012, had a feeling so we googled his name and found this page.
Clearly someone has nothing better to do with his time.
Just received an email, told him cash only. see what happens.

Have just got an identical email except for the booking dates, 4-14th March 2013. Watch out
Dr Maxwell has approached our house also, but i dont have credit card facilities, and they dont like to use PAYPAL. I would suggest anyone getting an overseas enquiry advises they dont have credit card facilities.
Phillip Maxwell [firstname.lastname@example.org]
Thanks for your offer.I accept your conditions and terms of booking,so I make a firm request that you book for us. I hereby inform you that I will like everything regarding payment to be settled before we come over for the vacation.
I will send you credit card details that will cover the cost of our booking and other necessary arrangements for us.
However, I made an arrangement with a prepaid Transport Consultant who will take care of our flight arrangements to other destinations and transportation requirements during our entire stay, I have decided that only you will handle my credit card details, because the Transport Consultant runs a private rentals firm and its not ideal to let both parties have the same credit card account ,also the Transport firm do not have the credit card facility .
So once you receive my credit card details you are required to charge the total sum of $10,200.00 including all the bank charges .Then you deduct $1,600.00 to secure our booking and send the balance of $8,600.00 to the Transport Consultant for them to arrange our flight ticket to your property and other logistics arrangement. I will send you the agent details and exact arrival time once everything is concluded.
Kindly confirm this and provide me with your:
(1) YOUR FULL NAME
(3) PHONE NUMBERS for office records
Looking forward to a warm Hospitality!
Dr.Phillip Maxwell .

I got an identical email today from email@example.com. He’s very anxious to book but the email just sounds suspicious. Good thing I checked this site.
The doctor strikes again. Same email, same children, just about th same dates but for this year and $8600 which has got to be sent on to the “travel consultant”. We also have a booking request from a “Dr. Helen Paul” with just about the same modus operandi. Has anyone any information?
